OTC sleep aids

- A recent study by JAMA neurology showed that long term use of anticholinergics, such as Benadryl, Tylenol PM, or Unisom, can cause higher risk of dementia or Alzheimer’s by 49%.

- Melatonin is necessary but not sufficient for driving sleep. It tells your body when it’s time to go to sleep — such as if you’re traveling or working a night shift — but it won’t help you stay asleep.
